Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club. Shackamaxon Golf Course is a golf gem in northern New Jersey. Built in 1916, "Shack" was one of the longest courses in the country measuring 6,615 yards from the championship tees. With gentle hills that wrap around Lake Shackamaxon, the 18-hole course is beautiful and challenging. The signature ninth hole, one of the first "island" greens, is one of the toughest 9th holes in the MET area. Preserving and enhancing the original concepts of this classic golf course is part of the Shack culture. Pinch Brook Golf Club. The 18-hole "Pinch Brook" course at the Pinch Brook Golf Club - in Florham Park - is a par 65, 5,007 yard executive length course, with undulating greens and challenging water hazards. Rated 3 1/2 Stars by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" and the "Top 100 Must Play Courses" by Golf Styles Magazine, Pinch Brook tests the skill of the most experienced golfer. Flanders Valley Golf Course. Located on 409 acres of pristine Morris County countryside, Flanders Valley Golf Course is frequently cited as one of the nation's most outstanding public courses. This 36-hole, par 72 course, with challenging tees and fairways, is one of the top golf courses in NJ. Rated 4-Stars by Golf Digest's "Places to Play," ranked among the "Top 75 Public Courses" by Golf Digest, and in the "Top 100 Must Play Courses" by Golf Styles Magazine, this course is Morris County's flagship public course. Morris County Golf Club. Founded in 1894, this unique club was created and operated by women, “the founding mothers,” which is remarkable for that era. An early member of the USGA (1895) and the first venue in New Jersey to host a national championship, the club has attracted fabled names in the sport, including Harry Vardon, Ted Ray, Bobby Jones, Chick Evens, Walter Kozak, and Billy Dear. Despite the disasters Morris County Golf Club endured - two fires, both world wars and the 1930’s Depression - the club has prevailed for what it represents. The members of a century ago created an ambiance of civility and sportsmanship that was held in esteem. Today, the legacy of the club’s founding spirit remains, and members maintain the rich traditions that are the hallmark of the Club.
